Your expense data is stored locally on your device. We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand how the app performs and fix bugs. If you enable cloud backup, your data syncs to your personal Google Drive or iCloud account — we never see or store it on our servers.
This Privacy Policy describes how Expense Tracker ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with your use of the Expense Tracker mobile application. The App is developed and maintained by Bidhan, an individual developer based in Kathmandu, Nepal.
We have designed Expense Tracker with privacy as a core principle. Your financial records — the expenses, categories, tags, and notes you enter — are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to any server we control. This policy explains the limited information we do collect, why we collect it, and the choices available to you.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
When you use the App, you may create records such as expense amounts, dates, categories, tags, and notes. This information is stored entirely on your device and is not transmitted to us.
The App uses the following services to improve reliability and understand usage patterns:
The limited information we collect through Firebase is used only for the following purposes:
We do not use this information for advertising, profiling, or to make automated decisions that affect you.
All expense records you create are stored in a local database on your device. This data:
Because your data lives on your device, losing your device without a backup means losing your records. We strongly recommend enabling cloud backup if your data is important to you.
The App supports automatic background sync to your personal cloud storage:
Important points about cloud backup:
The App integrates with the following third-party services. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Analytics | Anonymous usage analytics | Google Privacy Policy |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reporting and diagnostics | Firebase Privacy |
| Google Drive Backup | Optional encrypted backup (Android) | Google Privacy Policy |
| iCloud Backup | Optional encrypted backup (iOS) | Apple Privacy Policy |
| Google Play Billing | Subscription management (Android) | Google Privacy Policy |
| Apple App Store | Subscription management (iOS) | Apple Privacy Policy |
We do not control what data these services collect or how they use it. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
The App requests the following permissions, each for a specific purpose:
The App does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photo library.
We do not sell, rent, or trade any information.
We may disclose information collected through Firebase in the following limited circumstances:
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information collected through Firebase. Firebase services use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest, as implemented by Google. Your local expense data benefits from the operating system's built-in protections (such as app sandboxing and, on recent Android and iOS versions, device-level encryption).
However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the App at your own risk.
Because your expense data is stored on your device, you always have complete control over it:
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, you may have additional rights such as the right to request access, correction, deletion, or portability of your personal information. Because we collect very limited data through Firebase and that data is not tied to you personally, such requests are generally fulfilled by your device-level opt-out settings. For any specific request, please contact us at the address below.
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.
The App is operated from Nepal. Firebase services, which process the limited analytics and crash data described above, are operated by Google and may store or process data in the United States or other countries where Google maintains facilities. By using the App, you consent to this processing.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide notice within the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
